Image hosting overview

Upload an image and get a public link that never changes. Use it in Discord, on a FiveM or RedM server, on a website, in documentation: anywhere an image link works.

How it works #

  1. You upload an image, from the Portal or from your own script with an API key.
  2. You get a link such as https://cdn.eruptedhosting.com/images/8f3c2a91d7e44c2b9f0a1b2c3d4e5f60.png.
  3. The link works for anyone, with no login, until you delete the image.

The link does not expire and is never reused for a different image.

Getting it #

Image hosting is part of your Erupted Hosting account: there is nothing separate to sign up for. You can use it when your account has image storage, which comes from an image hosting plan or is included with another plan you have. See Plans and pricing.

Once you have storage, Image hosting appears in the Portal menu.

Limits #

SVG files are not accepted.

Only the picture itself is kept. Anything a file carries after the picture, such as the short video some phones add to a "motion photo", is dropped.

Uploading the exact same file twice gives you the link it already has, and it is only counted once.

Images are public #

Anyone who has an image's link can see it. The link is long and random, so it cannot be guessed, but treat anything you upload as public.

Warning

Images are stored exactly as you upload them. A photo can carry hidden details, such as where and when it was taken, and those stay in the file. Remove them first if that matters.

Deleting #

Deleting an image stops its link working everywhere it is used, and gives the storage back. It cannot be undone.

Somewhere that has kept its own copy (a browser, Discord) may go on showing it for a short while.

If your plan ends #

Without image storage you cannot upload. Images you have already uploaded are still listed in the Portal.
