Bot hosting
Backups and schedules
A backup is a copy of every file in your bot. A schedule runs a restart or a backup for you at a set time.
Backups #
Your plan says how many backups your bot may keep: it is shown at the top of the Backups tab. On a plan with none, the tab says so.
- Make a backup copies the whole folder as it is now, including
.env. Give it a name so you know what it was for. - A backup takes none of your bot's storage, and is kept through a Reinstall.
- A bot may make at most two backups in ten minutes.
- When all your plan's backups are used, delete one before making another. A scheduled backup takes the place of the oldest by itself.
Restoring #
Restoring a backup replaces every file in the bot with the files in the backup. It can only be done while the bot is stopped: stop it, restore, then start it.
Downloading a backup to your computer is not available yet. To keep a copy outside the Portal, download the files you need from the Files tab.
Schedules #
Up to ten per bot, each a restart or a backup, at a time of day, every day or on the days of the week you choose. The server runs them even when you are not signed in.
Times are shown in your own time zone and kept in UTC, so a schedule shifts by an hour when your clocks change.
Tip
A daily restart at a quiet hour keeps a long-running bot fresh, and a daily backup before it means you can always go back one day.
A schedule can be turned off without deleting it.
